THE
PROJECTS
Projects range from a pair of bedroom
curtains through general advice on room layouts to the full concept-to-completion
design service. However large or small, Jane Blanchard regards attention
to detail as of paramount importance, ensuring that the project is
completed on time and entirely to the client's satisfaction.
Clients have included:
|
No. 4 Cameron Square, Fort William
Conversion of a town house to an up-market restaurant with a
rich and comfortable atmosphere. Jane Blanchard designed and
supplied everything for the interior and the building and finishing
work was carried out by The Building Restoration Company.

Kingairloch Estate,
by Ardgour
This is an on-going series of projects, which has so far included
the total refurbishment of various estate cottages and of Kingairloch
House itself. The latter included "ripping out" the
first floor and re-arranging it to house 5 bedrooms and bathrooms. This project was also featured in “At Home” and “Home Plus” magazines.

The Moorings Hotel, Fort William
This needed careful planning to make use of some awkwardly shaped
spaces when the new "functions" extension was built.
Jane Blanchard designed the interior layouts and supplied all
the furniture and soft furnishings. The following year, she
designed and supplied the soft furnishings for the 10 bedroom
extension overlooking the canal.

Glengarry Castle Hotel,
Invergarry
has become an old friend over the past fourteen years, as each
season another few bedrooms, or one of the reception areas has
been completely redecorated and furnished. Only now are some
of the first bedrooms from 1989 being "freshened up",
as the maxim from the outset has been to create a traditional
yet timeless feel that will withstand the constant wear you
would expect in a successful hotel.

Fyne Spirit
Jane Blanchard Design was commissioned to “rescue” the fitting out of this boat, which had been partially converted from a working boat to a 12 cabin cruiser. One of the existing crew members was exceptionally good at rope work, and his skills were put to good use in decorating the steel pillars. A challenging project in terms of materials and optimum use of small spaces.

Home Farm
The owners wanted to retain the character of the existing farmhouse, but it was too small for their needs – and none of the first floor rooms looked out at the wonderful views of the surrounding mountains. We moved the staircase, re-arranged the first floor and built an extension to the rear. The whole house was then redecorated and re-furnished. The ceiling in the Moroccan loo was inspired by our recent holiday in Marrakech and was made to Jane Blanchard’s design by Peter Davies. The kitchen was created using (and painting) the old pine units in a completely new open plan configuration.

Carness West
This holiday house was completed in 2007 - a successful partnership between Jane Blanchard Design and The Building Restoration Company. It was built "upside down" with the bedrooms and bathrooms downstairs, allowing the first floor to be open plan. The large windows take advantage of the spectacular mountain views on all sides. (The house can be booked through www.scottish-country-cottages.co.uk). |
